Opening scene with a tentacle demon IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY? I do love that the trio just leaves demon guy dead right there on the grass. Lovely.
I don’t really remember why Cordelia blames Buffy for Xander cheating on her with Willow? Buffy had absolutely nothing to do with it. It was all Xaner and Willow. Also burning pictures like that in your room is not safe!
Cordelia in full armor is pretty scary, I agree.
ANYAAAAAA INTRODUCTION! To think of how much she’s going to add to the show and the gang :D Kind of funny to have her show up as a student; I think I deleted that from my head and thought Cordelia met her somewhere else in a different context.
That was really mean, Harmony.
Oz really calling Willow out on exactly what she’s trying to do!!! She wants to talk so she can feel better about herself and what she did. This is why I like him so much. He’s perceptive and aware of what’s going on in this situation. Also… interesting that Willow wants to “make it up” to Oz, but we don’t see her apologizing in this scene.
Okay, I really don’t have the patience for the laughing-out-loud game Cordelia and Xander are playing. Like: look how much fun I’m having without you! The energy is not in me.
Oh alright! So this is why Cordelia blames Buffy for things. It doesn’t make that much sense, considering, but I can see where she’s coming from. And it’s anger that leads her to… THE WISH! And Anya’s demon face \o/
It’s so interesting to see the ways in which Sunnydale High changes with no Buffy. The campus is almost abandoned, not many students in class, everyone but Cordelia wearing dark toned clothes, curfew. Those elements paint a picture that things are not fine and normal.
(A little touch of ableism wooho.)
The fact that Willow and Xander are dead just thrown out there and then… little reaction or follow up. Dead HOW?
Cordelia has been in this reality for a few hours and has already come to the conclusion that things are better with Buffy around. I love that for her, but too bad it’s a little too late! Be careful what you wish for etc etc
Vampire Xander is so different from regular Xander. A+ performance! Willow is also so different—though her performance does remind me so much of Drusilla. Big yikes for them still being together.
Giles and Oz! Saving the day!
Out of all the places in Sunnydale for The Master to turn into his office… he picks The Bronze???? Was this the inspo for Eric Northman and Fangtasia in True Blood????
!!!!! I HAD NO MEMORY OF CORDELIA BEING BITTEN!!!!!! AND DYING!!!!! Damn, I say this is an iconic episode and then I remember only 3 things from it. Gonna call myself a clown for this one.
I very much appreciate that they didn’t go halfsies on Sunnydale without Buffy. Xander and Willow being vampires, Cordelia dying, the Master succeeding in his plan. No one is safe and everything is terrible.

Angel, suffering :( He doesn’t get one (1) moment of peace in any and all universes. Just pain and suffering. And Giles, always researching! It’s an intriguing choice that they didn’t go with Ripper Giles for Wishverse, even more so considering Buffy isn’t in Sunnydale and there are so many vampires around. I feel like Ripper could have been useful.
Buffy looks like she had the roughest time in Cleveland. Kind of hard to imagine considering the Hellmouth. Disillusioned Buffy is so wrong to me and her scenes with Giles and Angel are such a departure from regular universe Buffy that I can’t help but be so impressed in what SMG can accomplish as an actor. I even dislike her a little bit!
The Master saying mass production is a demonic concept lmao He’s my favorite Buffy villain I accept no arguments.
Angel getting staked! Xander getting staked! Also treated like nothing in this universe! The wrongness of it! Oz killing Willow! Buffy!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least the episode takes us back to the proper universe where everyone is still alive and mostly okay before it ends. Phew!
Vampires Slayed: 5 that I could see!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned — Cordelia, wanting to be rid of all things Xander and his spooky entourage, decides that all of her troubles started when Buffy moved to Sunnydale and wishes that historic event never actually happened. SAME! It's so shocking how it happens so quickly and in total license like it's not a big deal. They did a wonderful job with that entire scene.
something tugs at him when he sees Buffy, some whisper of what's meant to be.
I'm very curious about Giles in this world because he does show a lot of humanity and hope. It's an interesting contrast since we now know about his Ripper persona? And it says a lot about him as a person that, in a world where Sunnydale was a Hellmouth, he chose to be kind and believe things could be better.
