Aw, Buffy and Angel slaying together <3
It’s nice seeing Buffy study! And then the major question of Buffy going to college being presented. She’s always struggled with balancing slaying with school and this is Big School. It poses an interesting conflict regarding what she’s going to decide when it comes to her adult life.
I had entirely deleted from my mind the fact that Willow got accepted into Oxford! She could have gone and learned so much European witchcraft. Xander reading Kerouac: sounds about right.
Buffy bringing up with Wesley that she wants out for college is wonderful. I very much like that she reminds him she’s also a person instead of just the Slayer. Giles being proud of her acceptance into college is also so sweet! This does make me wonder about Buffy having any sort of power once she turns 18 to just… do whatever she wants, instead of having to rely on the Council to authorize her to live her life as she wants to.
Wes being utterly unnecessary when it comes to planning anything? Poor guy. He did come in after the gang already had an entirely established dynamic on how to deal with supernatural evil. Everyone knows their strengths and weaknesses and how to work together. Sorry, Wes!
I do like Xander and Oz working together to do some magic per Willow’s instructions. I wish we had more of that during the show.
Love the action during the box scene! It’s always great to see Angel and Buffy fighting together. Too bad Willow got caught.
OZ!!!!! OZ!!!!!! You know things are bad when the quiet and chill one chooses violence.
WILLOW WITH THE PENCIL! WE LOVE WILLOW AND PENCILS!!!! We don’t love Willow missing the chance to get out because she wanted to investigate, though. However! This does lead to a very interesting interaction between her and Faith.
Of all the things the Mayor could talk about, he talks about Buffy and Angel’s relationship. He does know to strike Buffy straight in her insecurities.
Aaaaahhh, principal Snyder. Always in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing. Go you.
Aaaahhh, bugs. We just love them and when they try to eat our faces. Amazing. Lovely. Not at all upsetting to watch.
Willow telling Buffy about what she went through with Faith while Giles is like: BUT THE BOOKS! THE BOOKS! is so good. Even more so the pure joy on his face when Willow hands him pages from one of the Books of Ascension. He doesn’t even chastises her for ripping them out and damaging the book.
Shut up, Wesley.
I love love love love love this scene between Buffy and Willow. How they talk about their future plans and how Willow tells Buffy about her decision to stay in Sunnydale. Buffy’s happiness at the possibility of having her friend with her and then how she tells Willow she can’t stay? It’s so lovely. And it gets even better with Willow making it clear she’s making this choice for herself based on what she wants out of her life. So much character development!!! I love it.
Hmmmmm, something is obviously up with Cordelia and her situation. Do I remember what it is? Nope.
Buffy and Angel very much delude themselves in this final scene. They say they’re going to be okay which, in the Buffyverse, means the exact opposite is going to happen :D

Since Faith's turn to the dark side seems to have put the proverbial kibosh on Buffy's chances of ever getting out of Sunnydale to go away to college, Buffy decides to launch an offensive and shut down the Mayor's plans for "Ascension." Meanwhile, plans for the future are the order of the day, as Willow tries to choose among a bevy of college acceptances, Xander prepares to hit the road on a Kerouac-inspired adventure and Buffy and Angel refuse to face the insurmountable obstacles to a successful life together.Mayor Wilkins as Faith’s sort of parental figure: I don’t like it and it makes me uncomfortable. If only any other adult in Faith’s life (Giles, Joyce, Wesley) had occupied that space… but nope!
