BtVS - 2.11: Ted

Original Air Date: December 8, 1997
Writer: David Greenwalt, Joss Whedon
Director: Bruce Seth Green
The whole gang falls for Buffy's mom's new boyfriend, Ted — everyone, that is, except Buffy, who suspects there may be more to him than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Giles tries to repair his relationship with Ms. Calendar after her near-death experience with a demon; and still reluctant to let anyone know about their romantic involvement, Xander and Cordelia continue to hide their rendezvous from their friends.
I don’t like this episode, so I’m not sure I’ll have any good thoughts to share about it.

Big yikes on Buffy finding out about her mom’s new boyfriend through finding them making out in the kitchen. No surprise she’s not okay with it and takes it all out on vampires during patrol.

I kind of want mini-pizzas now :(

Once again, go Buffy and her Slayer senses for picking up something is Off about Ted! We just have to figure out what it is…

Aw, Jenny and Giles. I do love how firm Jenny is about her boundaries and that she’s still struggling. Open communication is always lovely.

Buffy complaining about Ted to her boyfriend is pretty cute, though. And for once I’m so glad we can have scenes between Buffy and Angel where they’re just happy and together and not pining and jealous and sad.

Mini-golf is a foreign experience to me and I understand nothing about it.

I also don’t like Joyce freely sharing stuff about Buffy’s life with Ted so soon. Like, wait some time. Talk to Buffy first.

And then Ted threatens violence.

Okay I’m just really… this is one of the episodes that gets to me because it’s so real and I get so angry and upset and scared for Buffy. I really don’t appreciate how Joyce handles things here and how everyone is reluctant to believe Buffy about what Ted said.

Ted in Buffy’s room/going through her things is a bit of a trigger for me so I’m skipping the entire scene. I also have to skip the police talk just… ugh.

Aaahh, drug cookies. They do not excuse how Joyce acts when Ted comes back… I really really don’t like this episode.

Two tidbits: Willow not caring about something being “evil” because she has a thirst for knowledge is a good hint of what’s to come. And Jenny and Giles kissing!
